It is not marketing jargon - it is the airworthiness code that determines whether a gyroplane can be registered and flown here at all. Here is what it means, and why Argo Aero's latest news matters.
The gold standard for gyroplanes
BCAR-T is the gyroplane section of the British Civil Airworthiness Requirements, set by the UK Civil Aviation Authority. It is widely regarded as the gold standard for gyroplane manufacture: demanding, thorough, and focused on safety. BCAR-T approval is the gateway - it is what opens the door to UK registration of a new gyroplane type.
Two steps: factory, then aircraft
Certification happens in stages. The first is approval of the factory itself - confirmation that the production facility meets CAA standards for quality, safety and manufacturing compliance. The second is type certification of the aircraft - testing and approving the design against the BCAR-T requirements.
This is exactly where Argo Aero's recent milestone sits. Manufaktura Lotnicza, the maker of the ARGON, has officially achieved CAA A8-21 Factory Approval - the factory step is done. What it means for you
For a buyer, this is the difference between a gyroplane you can actually register in the UK and one you cannot. The ARGON is already type-certified across Germany, Poland, France, India, Turkey and Georgia, and with UK Factory Approval secured, full BCAR-T certification is the final step before fully certified, factory-approved ARGON GTL aircraft can be delivered to UK customers. Building to BCAR-T from the start means the engineering is aligned with UK requirements, not retrofitted to them.
