CAA A8-21 Factory Approval Achieved

The ARGON GTL is on the path to UK certification

Argo Aero is thrilled to announce that Manufaktura Lotnicza - creators of the hand-built ARGON GTL gyrocopter in Poland - has officially achieved CAA A8-21 Factory Approval. This vital milestone confirms that the production facility meets rigorous Civil Aviation Authority standards for quality, safety, and manufacturing compliance.

With factory approval successfully secured, the next definitive step is full BCAR-T Certification of the groundbreaking GTL gyrocopter, which is currently in progress. The CAA's BCAR-T regulations are widely seen as the gold standard for gyroplane manufacture, and they have informed the design and production of the GTL from the start - we explain the process in what is BCAR-T.

This final approval will clear the way for fully certified, factory-approved ARGON GTL aircraft to be delivered to UK customers soon.

A new benchmark in certified touring

Designed for comfortable, long-range travel, the "Grand Turismo Long" combines Polish engineering excellence with approved manufacturing standards to set a new benchmark in certified gyroplane touring.

Powered by a Rotax 916 iS engine, the ARGON GTL features 130-litre fuel tanks providing up to 5 hours of flight, and some 620 miles of range with external tanks. Measuring 5.54 m long and 2.31 m wide, its large luggage compartment easily accommodates full-size luggage, golf clubs, skis, surfboards, fishing rods, or a foldable bike. The fully customisable cockpit features a Garmin G3X suite with autopilot and a constant speed propeller.

The announcement was carried again in the September 2026 issue of Light Aviation, the magazine of the Light Aircraft Association, under the heading "Argon GTL gyrocopter for UK" - the second British magazine to report the CAA A8-21 factory approval and the BCAR-T certification now in progress.

To be exact about what that is: both magazines carried our announcement rather than an independent flight test, and we would rather say so than let it be read as an endorsement. What it does mean is that the two British bodies whose members fly this kind of aircraft have both told their readers the aircraft is coming, and that the certification route it is taking is the one that ends in factory-built aircraft delivered directly to UK owners.
