ARGON GTL Price: What a Grand Turismo Gyroplane Costs
The from-price, what moves it, and what it costs to keep flying
The honest answer has two halves: what the aircraft costs to buy, and what it costs to own. Most manufacturers publish the first and go quiet on the second. Both are below, and the second half is the one that tends to decide whether a gyroplane makes sense for you.
The short answer
- From £165,000, excluding taxes and delivery.
- Around £202,000 for a fully specified aircraft - the span is options, not haggling.
- About £35 per flying hour in fuel, oil and scheduled servicing, on ordinary PB 95 petrol.
- It is the model we are currently taking UK orders for.
What moves the number
A GTL is specified before it is built - around a thousand hours of handcrafted work per aircraft - so the price follows the aircraft you describe. In rough order of how much each choice moves it:
| Engine | The ROTAX 916 iS (160 hp) is standard; the 915 iS (141 hp) is the option. Both carry the 5-year worldwide warranty, and the choice is the single largest line in the build. |
|---|---|
| Propeller | MT variable-pitch with a hydraulic governor, or Woodcomp with an electric one. |
| Avionics | A Garmin G3X glass cockpit with three-axis autopilot is the baseline. Additional screens, backup instruments and traffic awareness are specified per aircraft. |
| Interior | Hand-stitched leather, colour and stitching to your specification. This is a coachbuilt cabin, not a trim level. |
| Exterior colour | Nine factory shades, from Arctic White to Triple Laguna Metallic and Deep Green / Gold - or a custom colour specified for your build. Automotive-grade finish, and the metallics are the labour-intensive ones. |
| Tanks and undercarriage | The standard 130 litres can be extended with external tanks - that is what turns about 470 miles of range into some 620. |

A finished GTL at golden hour - the walkaround from nose to tail, the engine bay, the Garmin glass cockpit and the hand-stitched leather inside. Stay to the end, where someone walks into shot and gives you the scale.
What it costs to keep flying
The manufacturer's published fair-basis estimate, May 2025, taxes excluded. The figure that surprises people is the fuel: a GTL runs on ordinary PB 95 petrol, not avgas.
| Fuel | 25 l/h of ordinary PB 95 petrol - about £32.61 per flying hour |
|---|---|
| Engine oil | About £1.07 per flying hour |
| Scheduled engine service | 25 h / 100 h / 200 h cycle - from £0.87 per flying hour |
| Scheduled airframe service | 25 h / 100 h / 200 h cycle - from £0.58 per flying hour |
| Labour | £99 per hour on the manufacturer's basis |
| Insurance | Roughly 2% of the aircraft value per year |
Fuel and oil come to about £33.68 per flying hour, scheduled servicing from about £1.45 on top. What is missing from that list matters as much as what is on it: there is no calendar overhaul forcing a rebuild at a fixed age, so the aircraft does not depreciate against a clock the way a certified helicopter does - and neither does our own AH helicopter, at £97.23 an hour all in against the gyroplane's £89.11. Our guide to what a gyrocopter costs to buy and run covers the wider picture, and gyrocopter versus helicopter is the comparison most buyers are really making.
One honest number about payload
The GTL's cabin is its defining feature and the luggage compartment is a genuine cubic metre - but volume and weight are different things, and the flight manual is specific: 20 kg in the boot, plus 8 kg a side under the seats. Maximum takeoff weight is 600 kg.
In practice that is a hold built for bulk rather than ballast. Golf clubs, skis, a surfboard and soft bags go in easily; two heavy suitcases do not. We would rather you knew that from a web page than discovered it on the apron.
Read the contract first
We publish the standard sale documents openly - the order form and the handover acceptance certificate - so you can read exactly what you would sign before you speak to anyone. The specification, price and payment schedule are completed individually for each order; the terms themselves are not.
On certification: the GTL is type-certified in six countries, and in the UK Manufaktura Lotnicza holds CAA A8-21 Factory Approval with full BCAR-T certification in progress. What that actually means is set out in our explainer on BCAR-T. The full specification, every certificate and the factory manuals are on the ARGON GTL page.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the ARGON GTL cost?
From £165,000 excluding taxes and delivery, rising to around £202,000 for a fully specified aircraft. Every GTL is built to order, so the figure follows your configuration - engine, avionics, interior, colour and tanks. It is also the model we are currently taking UK orders for.
Why is there no single price?
Because there is no single aircraft. A GTL takes around 1,000 hours of handcrafted work and is specified before it is built, in the way a coachbuilt car is. The from-price is a real starting point rather than a teaser: it buys a complete, flying aircraft, and the options above it are genuine choices rather than things withheld to inflate the total.
What does the GTL cost to run?
On the manufacturer's published estimate: about £33.68 per flying hour in fuel and oil, on 25 l/h of ordinary PB 95 petrol, plus scheduled servicing from about £1.45 per flying hour and insurance of roughly 2% of the aircraft value per year. There is no calendar overhaul forcing a rebuild at a fixed age.
What is included in the from-price?
A complete aircraft: the monocoque carbon fibre cabin, hand-made carbon and Kevlar rotors, a ROTAX engine with its 5-year worldwide warranty, the Garmin G3X glass cockpit with three-axis autopilot, and the CO2 inflatable water rescue system. Taxes, delivery to the UK and your chosen options sit on top.
How much can the GTL actually carry?
The luggage compartment is a full cubic metre, and the flight manual limits it to 20 kg, with a further 8 kg a side under the seats. That is a volume-generous rather than weight-generous hold: golf clubs, skis and soft bags travel easily; two heavy suitcases do not. Maximum takeoff weight is 600 kg.
Can I see the contract before I commit?
Yes - we publish the standard order form and the handover acceptance certificate on our Terms of Sale page, so you can read exactly what you would sign before speaking to anyone. Figures and the configurator annex are completed individually for each order.
